We’ve been quite busy here at the Shirock house!

Introducing, Ivy Honor Shirock, the newest member of our Cash Color family! She came to us on her own time, and we couldn’t be more in love! I ended up being induced, but my labor was a beautiful, smooth, and somewhat quick experience—essentially what I had hoped it would be! The nurses were amazing, my doctors were wonderful, Scott was a champ as always, and it wasn't long until she was in my arms, healthy and precious as can be.

If I’ve learned anything from Geo, it's that time goes by fast. I’m working on reminding myself of that daily, and I’m trying to focus on soaking up as many of these precious moments that are unfolding as we all get to know each other. Geo (and his faithful cow) appear to be adapting to his new role as big brother well, and he’s eager to help introduce his little sister to the world.

The holidays are always a hectic time of year for retail business owners, but ready or not, they’re just around the corner and I’m gearing up for a busy season. With Madesouth and Porter Flea holiday markets switching to a virtual format this year, I’ll still be able to fully participate in between all the nursing and family bonding going on. Very exciting!

Besides being able to participate in the holiday markets, I’ve also been working on something new. While waiting for Ivy to arrive, I created the Holiday 2020 Hand Signs Collection as my way of continuing to spread peace and love into this wild world. Inspired by cooler weather and thoughts of including Ivy to our holiday family traditions, I have added four new limited edition colorway options to two of my best sellers, the Peace Sign and ASL “I Love You” prints.

I selected the colors for this collection while my nesting instincts were in full swing. In true artist fashion, my memories are very colorful. I selected each of these colors because they brought back a warm holiday memory from the past. As we establish our own family traditions, I want to be intentional about creating moments so that we will hopefully be able to pass on meaningful holiday memories to Geo and Ivy.

Antique Moss is the color of the leaves that start falling around Halloween. Copper reminds me of the star on top of our Christmas tree. Glacier nods to all the chilly winters with my family in Michigan, and Celestial Blue represents the night sky that shortens the day this time of the year.

Whether you choose Copper, Celestial Blue, Glacier, or Antique Moss, each print will feel special enough for a festive holiday gift—for others or yourself—but neutral enough to hang on the wall all year long. But you’ll need to act fast, because the Holiday 2020 Hand Signs Collection will only be available for a limited time through December 31st!

I’ll be doing a lot of snuggling in bed with Ivy and Geo for the rest of the year, but I’m also planning to make time for all the exciting things we have coming up this shopping season. I’m very much looking forward to our virtual markets, a sitewide sale that will include a surprise new item that we’re releasing exclusively for Porter in Place.
